Orientation and enrolment

Your study in the UK adventure kicks off with orientation week, five days of welcome activities that will give you time to settle in, meet other UPIC students and ask us questions.

During your first week, we will take you on a tour of Plymouth and the University of Plymouth campus, and help you with:

  • Accommodation
  • Enrolment
  • English culture and adapting to student life in the UK
  • Finance, health and immigration requirements, including medical and police registration and setting up a bank account
  • Your student ID card and email account
  • Your timetable

What if I’m homesick or suffering from culture shock?

Studying abroad is exciting, but we understand that it can feel daunting too. It’s normal to experience homesickness and/or culture shock at some point during your transition to life in the UK.

Although it will pass, it’s important to seek support. If you need advice on academic or personal matters, you can speak to a member of our Student Services team at any time. The college also operates a 24/7 emergency helpline, so you never have to face a problem alone.
